Release tension. Restore movement.

Myotherapy

Targeted soft tissue therapy to release chronic muscle tension, ease pain, and restore the freedom of movement you've been missing.

About this service

What is Myotherapy?

Myotherapy is an advanced form of soft tissue therapy focused on the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Our myotherapists use a range of techniques — including deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, dry needling, cupping, and stretching — to address the muscular causes of pain and restricted movement. Myotherapy is particularly effective for people who carry chronic tension, experience recurring pain, or sit at a desk for long hours.

Common questions

Frequently asked

What is the difference between myotherapy and remedial massage?

Myotherapy is a more advanced clinical discipline than remedial massage. Myotherapists complete a higher level of training and are qualified to perform dry needling, conduct detailed musculoskeletal assessments, and manage complex pain conditions.

Does dry needling hurt?

Most people experience a brief, dull ache or twitch response when a needle hits a trigger point — this is normal and usually passes within seconds. The needles used are very fine and most people find the treatment quite tolerable.

How often should I have myotherapy?

For acute conditions, weekly sessions are often recommended initially. For maintenance and stress management, fortnightly or monthly sessions work well for most people. Your myotherapist will advise based on your specific needs.

Is myotherapy covered by private health insurance?

Yes — myotherapy is covered under most Extras policies that include remedial massage or allied health. Check your policy details with your insurer.
