About this service

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is an evidence-based healthcare profession focused on restoring and maintaining physical function and mobility. Our physiotherapists assess your movement, strength, and biomechanics to identify the root cause of your pain or dysfunction — then create a targeted treatment plan combining manual therapy, exercise prescription, and education. At Sera, physiotherapy works hand-in-hand with our chiropractic, myotherapy, and exercise rehabilitation services for a truly integrated approach.

Common questions

Frequently asked

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No referral is needed to book a physiotherapy appointment at Sera. However, if you are claiming through Medicare's Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, your GP will need to provide a referral.

Is physiotherapy covered by private health insurance?

Yes — physiotherapy is covered under most Extras policies. We recommend checking your level of cover with your insurer before your appointment.

How is physiotherapy different from chiropractic?

Both disciplines treat musculoskeletal conditions, but physiotherapy places a stronger emphasis on exercise-based rehabilitation and functional movement. Many patients benefit from both — our team will advise the best approach for your situation.

Can you treat me if I have a WorkCover or TAC claim?

Yes. We are experienced in managing WorkCover and TAC claims. Please bring your claim details to your first appointment.
